$19 Million in Charges, They Proved None, and a Plea That Felt Like a Shakedown

  By Angelica Pacheco I was seventeen when I had my first child. No family support. No money. I took city buses across Hialeah just to sit in a nursing classroom. I worked midnight shifts in a cafeteria for twenty dollars a night while I was pregnant. I gave birth on a Thursday and I was back in class on Monday. That's how I became a nurse. Twenty years in nursing. Later, my neighbors elected me to represent them on the Hialeah City Council. I was Vice President of the Hialeah Miami Lakes Republican Club, a chartered club. In January 2024, my colleague and I opened a Republican office with one purpose: to support President Trump during the primaries, at the moment we felt he needed it most. Five months later, the federal government came after me. I know not everyone reading this shares my politics.
